The New York Giants will play the New England Patriots for the second time at the Super Bowl in four years.  The Giants beat the Patriots at the 2008 Super Bowl, and this year Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will lead the team along with quarterback Tom Brady for their fifth Super Bowl appearance together.

The Patriots have a 15-3 record, and have won 10 games straight over the regular season.  The Giants are coming off a recent 5 game winning streak beating the top-seeded Green Bay Packers and the second-seeded San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship.

Houston parks have been hit hard by the drought, and the Houston Parks Department called on volunteers to plant trees in Memorial, Mason, Hermann and MacGregor Parks.

The I-10 freeway has become exposed now that many tree have died, and it is now more common to see men with hard hats and saws ready to clear out the dead trees than lush foliage.  ”Here we’ll be planting approximately 20,000 trees. We won’t cover the freeway up tomorrow, but our goal is, down the road, we will have the freeway covered back up,” said Joe Turner, Houston Parks and Recreation director.

The Kodak Theater is the home of the Academy Awards since 2002, and more recently for American Idol. In fact, several production studios are owed millions by Eastman Kodak Co., including Sony, Warner Bros., Paramount Studios, Walt Disney Studios, and NBC Universal.

Sources say that studios have begun to stockpile Kodak film after hearing about the bankruptcy, and many are in talks with other film suppliers, such as Fuji. According to court documents, the Irving, Texas based company stated that the purpose of the Chapter 11 filing is “Whether the debtors can achieve long-term viability depends directly and substantially on the debtors’ ability to achieve dramatic change to their labor agreements, with a corresponding material reduction in their cost structure and legacy pension and medical obligations, and a restructuring of their capital structure.”

This Saturday, Jan 7, the Houston Texans will host the Cincinnati Bengals at Reliant Stadium for a kickoff starting at 3:30pm.  This will be the first time the Texans have played in a playoff game.

Wade Phillips, defensive coordinator for the Texans, is considered to be the biggest asset to the Texans’ game.  Phillips, who was formerly the Dallas Cowboys head coach, has completely changed the Texans’ defense by bringing in some key players such as cornerback Jonathan Joseph and linebacker Brian Cushing.

RoomStore  has been suffering since the housing market has gone down. Today 63 stores remain open in Texas, Alabama, Maryland, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania and it plans on closing at least five locations.

The furniture store filed for Chapter 11 protection in 2005 when it was owned by Heilig-Meyers. Its locations in Washington and Oregon were closed, but it emerged from bankruptcy as the housing market boomed in mid 2005. RoomStore states it plans on closing unprofitable stores and restructure its operations to pay back creditors.
